  Typhoon Saola landed on Yangjiang's Hailing Island again

  At 13:50 today (September 2), typhoon Saola, the ninth typhoon of this year, made landfall again in Hailing Island of Guangdong’s Yangjiang city.

  The typhoon is forecast to move west by south along the coastline of western Guangdong at a speed of 15km/h and gradually weaken, according to the provincial meteorological observatory.

  Guangdong gradually resumes inbound and outbound trains

  Trains in and out of Guangdong province are scheduled to resume operation from 8:30 a.m. on September 2, after Typhoon Saola made landfall in the southern coastal area of Zhuhai early in the morning, according to the latest notice of the railway authorities. 

  Apart from the Shenzhen-Zhanjiang high-speed railway and Guangzhou-Maoming railway, some railway lines gradually resumed operation with added trains, including Beijing-Guangzhou high-speed railway, Nanning-Guangzhou high-speed railway, and Guiyang-Guangzhou high-speed railway and Beijing-Guangzhou railway. 

  Here are the details of the added trains: 

  Beijing-Guangzhou High-speed Railway

  49 trains: Changsha South (Yueyang East) Railway Station - Guangzhou South Railway Station

  Two trains: Changsha South Railway Station - Yongzhou Railway Station 

  Guangzhou-Foshan-Zhaoqing Intercity Railway

  18 trains: Foshan West Railway Station - Zhaoqing Railway Station 

  Guiyang-Guangzhou High-speed Railway 

  Four trains: Guangzhou South Railway Station - Huaiji Railway Station 

  Nanning-Guangzhou High-speed Railway

  Four trains: Guangzhou South Railway Station - Yunan Railway Station 

  To meet the travel demand of passengers, the railway department will continue to add more trains according to the rainfall under the influence of typhoons.   Typhoon Saola makes landfall in south China's Guangdong

  Typhoon Saola, the ninth typhoon of this year, made landfall in the city of Zhuhai, south China's Guangdong Province at 3:30 a.m. Saturday, according to the province's meteorological observatory.

  With a maximum wind speed of 42 to 46 meters per second near its eye, Saola landed in the coastal area of Jinwan District in Zhuhai. It is expected to wane as it moves west by south along the coastline of Guangdong at a speed of 15 to 20 km per hour, according to the forecast.

  By 10 a.m. Friday, over 780,000 people in Guangdong had been evacuated from risky areas, all of the province's 80,000-plus fishery vessels had returned to harbors for shelter, and 13 cities in the province had postponed the starting date of autumn semester for primary, middle schools and kindergartens, according to the province's flood, drought and typhoon control headquarters.

  Saola is expected to bring strong gales and heavy rains to Guangdong's southern and coastal areas from Saturday to Sunday, according to local meteorological observatory.

  Flights canceled, bus services stopped for typhoon's arrival

  As the typhoon draws near, China Southern Airlines announced on Thursday evening (August 31) that some flights involving Jieyang, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Huizhou, Xiamen and Hong Kong International Airport will be adjusted. Tickets bought before August 31 (inclusive) can be rescheduled or refunded. 

  Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport also issued a typhoon warning to remind passengers to check their flight status with airlines before departure. For the latest information, please call the airport service hotline at 020-96158 or search its official WeChat (Baiyun Airport News “白云机场发布”) and Weibo (Baiyun Airport “白云机场”) accounts. 

  Direct bus services between Guangzhou and Hong Kong, including shuttle buses at the ports, will be stopped since the Hong Kong Observatory issued the No. 8 Northwest Gale or Storm Signal under the effect of Typhoon Saola on early Friday morning (September 1). 

  Furthermore, all trains of Guangzhou-Zhuhai Intercity Railway and Zhuhai-Zhuhai Aiport Intercity Railway (Zhuhai Station - Zhuhai Chimelong Station) will be suspended from 8 p.m. on September 1 to 3 p.m. on September 3.

  Also, the trains departing from Zhuhai to Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Beijing, Shanghai and other destinations will also be suspended. 

  Passengers can apply for a refund at the ticket windows or 12306 (mobile APP) within 30 days of the train’s departure date, and no cancellation fee will be charged for those who bought tickets for the affected trains.

  Super typhoon Saola hurtles towards Pearl River Delta

  Super typhoon Saola is forecast to make landfall between Guangdong's Huidong county and Taishan city on Friday night or Saturday morning, according to Guangdong Meteorological Observatory.

  It is also possible that the typhoon will go west by south along the coastline of Guangdong, the forecast also said.

  As of 17:20 today (September 1), a total of 25 red alerts for typhoon have been issued in Guangdong. Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Shantou and Huizhou have announced the suspension of schools, work, production, transportation and business.

  On September 2, there will be rainstorms in the Pearl River Delta and Yangjiang. The rest of the province will see moderate rain or torrential rain. The areas where the typhoon center passes will experience a wind force of grade-16.

  On September 3, West Guangdong and western Pearl River Delta will see heavy rain and localized torrential rain. The remaining areas will experience showers and localized heavy rain.

  Temporary closure of the bridge channel of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge affected by Typhoon Saola

  According to the authority of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, due to the impact of typhoon Saola, temporary traffic control has been implemented on the bridge channel of the Zhuhai-Macao Bridge since 3:30 pm, September 1. Also, customs clearance services between Zhuhai and Hong Kong were suspended on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Zhuhai Port.

  Hengqin Port has suspended customs clearance since 15:10 on September 1

  With the super typhoon Saola approaching, Hengqin Port has suspended its customs clearance service since 15:10 on September 1, with the Lotus Bridge also being closed, according to the Zhuhai port authority. Please make proper arrangements for your trip until further notice.

  Guangdong suspends all trains ahead of Typhoon Saola's landfall

  From 8 p.m. on September 1 to 6 p.m. on September 2, all trains bound for Guangdong will be suspended as Typhoon Saola is expected to make landfall in the province’s eastern coastal areas, according to railway authorities. 

  The train service will be gradually resumed from 6 p.m. on September 2, including Beijing-Guangzhou high-speed railway, Nanning-Guangzhou high-speed railway, and Guiyang-Guangzhou high-speed railway.

  Guangdong braces for Typhoon Saola

  Typhoon Saola is expected to make a landfall between Huidong county and Taishan city on Friday night or Saturday morning after its path adjustment, Guangdong meteorological department said on Friday morning.

  Saola, classified as a super typhoon, is moving at 10 to 15 kilometers an hour as it approaches Guangdong coast from the sea surface 245 kilometers away from southeast direction of Hong Kong on Friday morning, meteorological department said.

  To brace for Saola that is expected to bring storms and gales to Guangdong coast, a total of 27,214 fishing vessels have all returned to shelters and 12,322 fishermen and offshore workers from ocean ranch fishing rafts have gone ashore as end of Thursday, when Guangdong's flood control, drought relief and anti-typhoon headquarters upgraded its anti-typhoon emergency response to Level 1 from Level 3 on Thursday afternoon, local authorities said. Read more.

  Trains and flights to be suspended as typhoon Saola approaches

  Starting from August 31, some railway trains will be suspended as super typhoon Saola approaches, according to the authorities of China Railway Guangzhou Group Co., Ltd.

  Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport will suspend all inbound and outbound flights from 12 pm on September 1.
