In recent years, there have been close ties between Guangdong Province and various regions in Belgium. Mr. Wim Peeters, the Consul General of Belgium in Guangzhou, was recently interviewed by Yangcheng Evening News.
When discussing the economic and trade exchanges between China and Belgium, Mr. Wim Peeters stated, "Chinese electric cars are already very well known in Belgium. BYD, Xiaopeng, and Hongqi are already on the market. And almost all Chinese EVs in the European market are imported via Belgian ports. Additionally, the Belgian company Umicore has set up a large battery factory in Guangdong."
He also mentioned the connection between the animated series "The Smurfs" and Guangdong. The theme song of "The Smurfs" when aired in China was specially composed by two musicians from Guangdong province.
