The 134th edition of the China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, is underway in the southern city of Guangzhou. Nearly 30,000 companies are showcasing their products and services over the next three weeks, drawing in thousands of global buyers from over 200 countries and regions.
Arthur Guimaraes, the General Manager at Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Brazil, said it was a great platform to meet reliable suppliers and reliable partners to do business in China.
After three years of COVID restrictions, the Canton Fair finally comes back to off-line events. People are coming in to make deals face to face. The pure excitement is obvious among these sellers and of course buyers.
“You can't beat the face-to-face (meeting) and to see the products. It's much easier than trying to buy something on the internet,” said Malcolm Lewis, a buyer from the UK.
Over the years, the event has seen an increase in high-end products, new energy solutions and a focus on environmental protection and sustainability. In an unprecedented display of sustainability products, renewable energy solutions from Chinese companies are in high demand.
Ivory Charles Metuh from Nigeria believed renewable energy is the future, “I love what China is doing. China is leading the way in the world. And it's great.”
The exhibition's scale has soared to new heights. Buyers from the EU and the Belt and Road partner countries are also on the rise, an encouraging sign of growing international confidence for Chinese manufacturing.
